What You Need to Know When Scaling Mount Kenya Mount Kenya which is 5199 metres above sea level is the highest Mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa. It’s thought that the peak of Mount Kenya was over 6,500m in height but, has decreased over the years as a result of significant glacial erosion. The mountain is located north of the capital and a few kilometres from the equator. This mountain is the world’s largest free-standing mountain and an extinct volcano.
